Byte Construct were engaged by the Shire of Carnarvon for the refurbishment of the Carnarvon Regional Library and Art Gallery. The project involved the complete strip out of the existing squash court facilities to allow for the Shire’s new library and art gallery.
Works began with the demolition of seven courts and changing rooms as well as the removal of the entire existing roof structure. This was followed by the complete redesign of the roof along with the upgrade of the mains power supply into the building, addition of a new mechanical plant room, water storage tanks and lift, all required for the upgrade in base build services and to meet Building Code Compliance.
The freshly cladded building has been further enhanced with the addition of two external courtyards that bring valuable and versatile spaces perfect for entertaining during art gallery showcases and all shaded under a new laser cut sheeted canopy.
With designated children and youth areas, informal reading and study areas all surrounded by bespoke joinery and funky furniture, as well as fully refurbished amenities, this once tired looking building has been transformed into what will be a major asset to the local community with something for everyone.
